Indigenous science is about observation and curiosity, just like science. At Coyote Science we celebrate the curiosity of young people. And we encourage observation, including through homemade science experiments to spark learning, while having fun. And we look for experiments that can be done with most things that can be found at home.

And even better, these are experiments that can be done with the whole family. And with each Kai’s Hack, we also have science lessons to help explain the science. Through our series, we will give our viewers healthy messages to inspire them on their learning journey. And we ensure experiential learning by doing.

What can you do with some string, paper, popsicle sticks and elastic bands? Well, you can make a simple craft that can make a sound like a bee. And you can learn about sound waves.

Want to learn how to make a paper plane designed by John Collins, “The Paper Airplane Guy”, that held the world record for flying time for over 10 years. Bet you can fold an even better paper airplane but this one is a good start.

Indigenous people have been leaders in aviation since the early days of aviation. Like Eula "Pearl" Carter Scott was the youngest pilot in the United States on September 12, 1929, when she took her first solo flight at the age of 13. Pearl was from the Chickasaw Nation. There is a science to flight. Did you know, birds don’t flap their wings? Instead, They make circles with their wings, during which the wing moves forward and down. That causes air to flow faster over the tops of their wings, generating lift. That’s called the Bernoulli Effect. Check it out.

Virtually all animals in the world get their food either directly or indirectly from green plants. We can’t say all for sure. We don’t know what Sasquatches eat. And Tubeworms, found in hot volcanic vents in the ocean, don’t have mouths or stomachs but they survive on symbiotic bacteria.
